Hi! I’m Miranda Kogon Montoya, and I am so happy to share Petunia the Chipmunk with the world!
About Petunia the Chipmunk:
Petunia the Chipmunk is a children’s book series that celebrates curiosity, connection, and whole-child wellness.
Each story follows Petunia as she explores big ideas—like moving, music, belonging, and self-expression—in gentle, age-appropriate ways. Through interactions with friends, Petunia learns that there are many ways to grow, learn, and feel confident.
Rather than focusing on competition or perfection, the series emphasizes:
Joyful exploration
Inclusion and empathy
Listening to your body and emotions
Learning from others while staying true to yourself
Petunia’s stories are designed to support social-emotional learning, health and wellness, and global awareness—making them meaningful for both children and the adults who guide them.
About the Author:
I am a former elementary school teacher, school psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and now I am a special education administrator. Throughout my career, I’ve been deeply passionate about supporting children and fostering their growth, both academically and social-emotionally. Children’s books have always held a special place in my heart — they have the power to teach, inspire, and comfort in ways that nothing else can.
Writing these stories and developing their SEL resources has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I’m so excited to finally share them all!
